🔐 Password Manager

Privacy Policy

✓ Privacy Policy submitted successfully for Play Store review!
Effective Date: February 18, 2026

Introduction

Passwords ("the App") is a local password manager that helps you store and manage passwords on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, stored, and your choices.

Data We Collect

Local Account Entries

Titles, usernames/email, category, encrypted password blobs, and metadata such as lastAccessed. All entries are stored locally on the device using Hive.

Biometric/PIN

The App can use device biometric or PIN mechanisms to lock/unlock access. The App only uses the platform biometric APIs to verify identity; no biometric data or PINs are accessed, stored, or transmitted by the App.

Clipboard/Share

When you copy or share a password, the plaintext value is placed into the system clipboard or shared via the platform share dialog; this action is initiated by you.

Diagnostics/Analytics

The App does not collect analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry by default.

How We Use Data

Local Storage

Password entries are stored only on the device and are not uploaded to any server by the App.

Encryption

Passwords are encrypted locally before being saved. The encryption keys are managed by the App's encryption service.

Biometric/PIN

Used only to gate access to the locally stored data (unlock). No biometric templates or PINs leave the device.

Device Security

The overall protection of your data depends on your device security (screen lock, OS updates).

Sharing & Export

Share Feature

If you use the App's share functionality, the selected passwords are decrypted and provided to the system share sheet or other apps. Shared data may be received by other apps and services — sharing is irreversible and under your control.

Clipboard

Copying a password to the clipboard exposes it to other apps with clipboard access. Clear your clipboard after use where appropriate.

Third‑Party Libraries & Services

The App uses these third‑party packages:

  • share_plus — used to invoke the system share sheet
  • Hive/Hive Flutter — local key/value storage on device
  • Platform biometric APIs — used only for on-device authentication
  • UI libraries (top_snackbar_flutter, flip_card, flutter_speed_dial, etc.) — UI only, no data collection
⚠️ Important: None of the above are used to transmit your stored passwords or biometric data to any remote servers.

Security

  • Encryption: Password values are encrypted before saving to local storage
  • Local-only storage: The App keeps your data on your device with no cloud sync or remote backup
  • Device security: Use a strong device lock and keep your OS up to date

Data Retention & Deletion

  • Your data is retained on your device until you delete it
  • You can delete individual entries or all entries in the App
  • Deleted data is removed from local storage

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child provided personal data, contact us to request deletion.

Your Rights & Choices

  • Access & export: Use the App's share/copy features to export data
  • Deletion: Delete items within the App to remove them from local storage
  • Disable biometrics: You can disable biometric unlock in App security settings

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will update the effective date and, where required by law, notify you of material changes through the App.

Play Store Disclosure Guidance

Data Safety

On the Play Console Data safety form, declare that user data (credentials) is stored locally and encrypted. Indicate that the App does not transmit this user data off‑device.

Biometric Auth

Declare use of biometric authentication for on‑device access only.

Sharing

Declare that users can explicitly share password data via the Android share sheet and that sharing may transmit plaintext data outside the app. Advise users in-app to share only with trusted apps/contacts.
